THIS MAY BE OUR ONE & ONLY CHANCE! Please speak up at the Public Hearing, send letters, contact other people and post on social media. We need everyone to help get the message out because this could be very bad for our neighborhood... AND COULD DEVALUE OUR PROPERTIES!
The 'Cow Pasture' is seeking R3 Zoning! (not good)
Here's why: Properties zoned R3 allow for Hi-Density residential development including Trailer Parks, RVs, and Mobile Home Parks. The owner claims he wants to do another Appalachian Village style development but is requesting maximum flexibility in his zoning request. Raven Ridge is sending a resolution asking for it to be zoned R1 (not R3) because R1 would allow him to develop what he claims he wants to do. The problem with R3 is it opens the door for the possibility of an R3 Hi-Density development. This would be undesirable and incompatible with our neighborhood, lead to traffic congestion on Soco Road, AND it could devalue our properties.

Additionally this is a very fast moving section of Soco Road that could add significant traffic congestion adding to frustrations and negative impressions to travelers as they enter our town.

ADD THIS CAPTION: We should hold off on any new R3 Hi-Density zoning designations until the new MV Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) is adopted. This will be done in just a couple months and will define the new development standards for our town. We should not do any more Hi-Density zoning until we see how that fits into the new plan!
